Five Reasons to consider taking a Tap dance class

1. Increased Overall Health

The first obvious benefits of tap dance are the improvements to our physical health. Tap is great for increasing cardiovascular conditioning, flexibility, and coordination. It also improves strength on the knees, hips, and ankles with the various sweep and tap movements.

2. Everyone can do it!

From Preschool all the way up to senior citizens, there’s a tap dance level for you! Young children especially benefit from learning and identifying the sounds the shoes make. While more mature dancers can challenge their memory to keep the brain sharp, which brings us to reason #3

3. Tap makes you smarter!

Tap dancing is based of memorizing patterns. It's very math based, which is perfect for helping younger students grasp math counts. Studies have shown students who tap dance tend to have better grades in math due to the left-brain nature of the dance.

4. It’s one of the only dance forms meant to be heard

When dancing tap, you become both a dancer and a musician! Hearing the noise you create can help you develop your own rhythm and improve on your skills. The noise also lends voice and an emotional release to those who feel they may not have a voice such as young children or the elderly.

5. Tap is social!

Tap dance is an inclusive form of dance for all ages, and backgrounds. It’s also not gender specific which makes it a perfect environment for any dancer to feel comfortable. Dancers can communicate with one another through the sound and learn new skills from one another.
